Next and last stop we visited was Okinawa, the southern ilands of Japan.

Okinawa is very popular as a tropical resort island, but it also attracts people with its unique culture that is very different from the mainland Japan.

Okinawa was its own independent kingdom, called Ryukyu, until 1872, when Meiji Japan government abolished the kingdom.

Then, after the WW2, Okinawa was governed by the United States until 1972. And even after it is back to Japan there are many American bases remaining until now.

Because of these histories, Okinawa has unique and intricate culture.
